I had always wondered about the customs thing. I would be devastated if I bought a bear and it was handled in such a way. Surely there is some kind of way - like swabs etc to test for drugs and explosives that they can do before 'ripping' apart a gorgeous creation. Frankly I think they should replace the cost of the bear but alas that will never happen. Hopefully your little note will be a deterant for them destroying another bear.
